Last week Alibaba Cloud announced the launch of their VDI solution called Elastic Desktop Service (EDS). I posted an article explaining in detail what does the service, what are the benefits, and the common use cases.
In this tutorial, I am going to guide you from a user perspective on how to install and configure the Alibaba Cloud EDS client.
How to install the Elastic Desktop Service (EDS) client
The picture below gives you an overview of the steps required to configure and use the EDS client. It is really a very easy and fast process.
Step-by-step guide:
Step 1: Download the EDS client (Windows & Mac supported).
Step 2: Install the client on your computer.
Note: When you log on to the client for the first time, you must wait for the plug-in download to be completed.
Step 3: Log on to the client using your Directory ID.
Note: When you log on to the client for the first time, you must enter a directory ID. You can contact the administrator to obtain the directory ID. The next time you log on to the client, the system skips this step and uses the configured directory ID. If you want to change the directory, modify the logon settings.
Step 4: Enter your RAM username to login to EDS.
Step 5: Enter your password.
And that was it! Those are the 5 steps in order to Login to Alibaba Cloud EDS.
In the picture below you see the message when you log in to EDS but no cloud desktops are available for your RAM user. In that case, contact your administrator to create cloud desktop resources for you.
